ChicagolandRefs.Org is a not-for-profit website conceived to be a resource for those who officiate sports in the Chicago, Illinois area.  Originally, the idea was just as stated on the home page, "Our vision is to create place where sports officials from through the Chicagoland Area can meet and interact."  Additionally, there are a ton of resources for officials across the web and learning organizations, but sometimes they are very hard to find.  We want ChicagolandRefs.Org to be the place where officials can come to find what they need.  While the content might not be located here, this will serve as the vehicle to get you there.

This is a living and growing idea and very much in the initial planning stages.  We hadn't planned to roll it out yet (January, 2017) and thought it would be a good idea to release it in mid-summer ready for the 2017-18 school year.  But, we saw a need for publicizing those officials who were given a basketball playoff assignment by the IHSA, so the site rolled in early February, 2017.

One of the needs we see is a social media place for officials to share ideas, learn about their sports, challenge each other with case plays and rule interpretations.  We also want to be able to talk about situations which arise during games or otherwise.  Currently, if a football crew is looking for a new crew members or a football official wants to join a crew, there is really no place to accomplish that.  These are the ideas that prompted the addition of the forum.  The sky is the limit when it comes to officials being able to interact in a forum arena.  We imagine it to be like an association meeting where we all learn from each other.  While a forum will NEVER replace an association, it's place where we can all search to fin information and use that information to get better at officiating.

There is also a learning environment in the planning stages where officials can study and learn about their sports.  It will be a learning management system where those in each sport can find training programs, rule interpretations and practice exams.  As you might imagine, this is a tremendous undertaking and it requires a substantial amount of planning and then content development.  We hope to roll this in Fall, 2017.

Thank you for your interest in ChicagolandRefs.Org.  We have a lot of dreams for this site.  We would love to hear your ideas about what it could be as well.  Please use the contact us form below if you would like to share your thoughts.
